Get to Know Your Local, Smart, Fast & Cool, VH Careers

Next time you are at Manly Wharf – come in to our Villa & Hut store and check out the wonderful piece of art painted by one of our tribe – Angie Pollock.  This original mural is located at the back of the counter area within the store, and took Angie about 8 weeks to complete.  With a bit of luck – you will also find her working the shop floor!   This amazing fresco is a credit to Angie, and a wonderful backdrop to our beautiful Manly store.  Thank you Angie – and we all hope that one day your art becomes a collectors item! – Franz Madlener

Mural Villa and Hut Manly, Sydney

Angie Pollack who works at Villa & Hut is also an inspiring artist.  She was given the brief to create a mural at Villa & Hut Manly Wharf, Sydney that would encapsulates the essence of Villa & Hut but also reflects it’s location at one of the most scenic places in the world Manly, Sydney.

So in her own words…………

“This was easy as Manly has a beautiful harbor beach, I imagined a traditional south east asian fishing boat arriving with the vibrant and beautifully handcrafted merchandise. Which was fascinating  to try and replicate in the mural, and  took me on a journey through time and cultures- from indian blockprinting to old chinise painted furniture. Through my art I was able to set off on a rich creative adventure exploring different cultures and my own backyard.”
A big thank you to the customers, and your lovely comments. in particular the couple on holiday from India, who sat and watched me paint for about an hour , which made me chuckle, but opened my mind to how art is appreciated in different cultures”

A Huge Welcome to Villa & Hut Warrnambool

Coffee Chai Tea Culture, Get to Know Your Local

Warrnambool Villa and Hut

Villa & Hut takes off in Warrnambool !!

On June 9, 2010 Villa & Hut Warrnambool opened its doors!

The aroma of homemade pies and quiches coming from the oven, warm muffins out on baking trays lined the benches, the exclusive Van Leuvan hand made Villa & Hut bread displayed along the counters, putamayo music playing through the centre speakers made us all very excited! It wasn’t before long the locals had filled the leather seating lounges and were sipping chai lattes, children played in the kids play area, while the rest of Warrnambool lined up for a chance to taste the award winning Villa & Hut coffees.

Lunch time came and went as customers enjoyed some of our favorite dishes in the formal dining area – Marrakech salads, nasi goring and Cajun calamari…..

A big welcome to Warrnambool and our new franchisee – Bec & Emmy!!

Chapel Street Jam Factory -Get to Know Your Local

Get to Know Your Local

Style, sophistication and the best window shopping (I can’t yet afford to shop at Collette Dinigan) in Melbourne.  Chapel Street is the most fashionable place in Melbourne.  Australians best designers (Mimco, Collette Dinnigan, Dinosaur Designs, Alannah Hill) just to make you jealous and some cool international brands as well.

Villa & Hut is located in the Jam Factory (it really was a factory that produced jam).  Today it’s a modern shopping complex with Village Cinemas showing the latest movies and a Borders bookshop which is always good for browsing.

Parkdale – Get to Know Your Local

Coffee Chai Tea Culture, Get to Know Your Local

Visit Villa & Hut Parkdale Melbourne

It’s Sunday morning and I’ve decided to venture out on my new project “Get to Know Your Local”.  Each Villa & Hut has it’s own distinct character and vibe and is very reflective of it’s local community.  So I decided to get dressed and  discover what each Villa & Hut has to offer.

First on my list is Villa & Hut in Parkdale!

Villa & Hut Parkdale is just perfect for a lazy Sunday of reading the paper, eating organic muesli and fresh orange juice (but I decided to opt for a fresh doughnut).  Afterwards, I was  feeling a bit guilty about the doughnut so I went for a brisk walk along Port Phillip Bay.   It’s such a nice way to spend a Sunday.

Villa & Hut in Parkdale – Melbourne(about 23 k from the CBD) located on  230 Como Parade, Parkdale VIC 3195.  Villa & Hut Parkdale is connected to the fabulous Wendy Ford Hair Salon – so book in for a haircut (03) 9580 0280 and feel good inside and out.

Melbourne Weather is Cuckoo

Get to Know Your Local

melourne weather is cuckoo

There is no gentle way of saying this – the weather in Melbourne is absolutely cuckoo.
I’m standing at Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne it’s 28 degrees, and not a breeze around.  It’s so still and quiet there is no way you could get a kite to fly in this sky. It’s the kind of day where you could go for a walk and enjoy being outside because it’s not an oven.  But, you better be quick I just read that some crazy wild weather is about to hit this town – thunderstorms and flash flooding.

The weather may be cuckoo but it’s definitely not boring.
